Following a brief illness, Jeanne Adams departed her beautiful life on December 17, 2008. Jeanne Dowell was born and reared in Johnstown, Ohio. Jeanne graduated from JHS where she was both cheerleader and majorette. An educator her entire adult life, Jeanne taught more than 30 years in the Ohio Public School Systems of Johnstown and Whitehall.
The highlights of Jeanne's life include her family and friends, receiving the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge Award, travel, dancing and retirement in Savannah, Georgia, with the love of her life, James Mack Adams.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, daughters: Susan Cecilia, Molly Jones and Betsy Gathercole; her grandchildren: Gina Baumgartner, Shawn McSorley, and Kasson Bratton. Great grandchildren: Camden McSorley, Allen Woodworth and Marissa Baumgartner; Step-children: Becky Stepp, Kevin Adams and Lisa Bennett; step- grandchildren: Rachel Adams, Julie McCoy and Courtney Bennett.
A memorial service will be held in June on Tybee Island, Georgia.

I have known Jeanne for many years, worked with her at Whitehall City Schools and my daughter, Christy, was in one of her fourth grade classes. Jeanne has always been a wonderful teacher and friend. My heart-felt condolences to her family.
